Sustainability Reporting & Compliance Specialist

  • Hybrid

Job description

It’s holiday season at Tony’s! 🍫☀️  We’re a bit slower on replies right now, but your application is important to us, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and wish you sunny summer days!

Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

What you will do
We’re on the lookout for a
Sustainability Reporting & Compliance Specialist to strengthen our small, but mighty sustainability team in Amsterdam. You’ll work side-by-side with our Sustainability Manager and collaborate across the business with teams like Procurement, Product, Operations, Sales, Legal, and Tony’s Open Chain. You’ll also engage with external stakeholders such as auditors, customers, and fellow B Corp companies.

At Tony’s, we’re proud to be a sustainability front-runner - and we’re committed to staying ahead. With new compliance and reporting requirements like CSRD and EUDR on the rise, this role is a chance to help us build a rock-solid ESG foundation. You’ll focus on compliance, reporting accuracy, and alignment with global ESG standards and frameworks. Not just to tick boxes, but because we believe transparency and solid data are critical to real impact. That includes leading our annual CO₂ footprint calculations and helping translate numbers into action. It’s about making sense of a constant stream of information. You’ll bring structure, optimize processes, and ensure our ESG reporting is accurate, traceable, and well-documented. Attention to detail and cross-team coordination will be key to turning complexity into clarity. If you’re passionate about ESG and want to shape sustainability from the inside out in a company that raises the bar - this role is for you!

All wrapped up, you’re going to:

  • Lead ESG data coordination and reporting for our Annual Fair Report and contribute towards CSRD-compliance.

  • Manage annual CO₂ footprint calculations and support emissions reduction strategy building.

  • Own preparation and delivery for certifications (Fairtrade, B Corp) and audit readiness.

  • Support implementation of sustainability legislation such as EUDR, ECGT, and legal traceability protocols.

  • Respond to sustainability data requests from suppliers, customers, and retailers.

  • Maintain internal ESG documentation systems and workflows; flag risks or gaps.

  • Align cross-functional teams (Procurement, Legal, Operations) for smooth compliance execution.

  • Track regulatory developments and help shape internal priorities.

  • If you're eager to, represent Tony’s in external forums on ESG reporting and sustainability topics.

Job requirements

  • Knowledge of EU law and regulations and familiarity with ESG/sustainability frameworks, reporting standards, and ratings agencies, such as CSRD/ESRS, GRI, GHG Protocol, B Corp, Fairtrade.

  • Previous work experience with topics related to sustainability: experience on ESG reporting and/or compliance within a corporate or consulting environment, preferably within FMCG

  • Knowledge of topics and trends related to sustainability strategy and reporting, including key environmental challenges and solutions (e.g., climate change, biodiversity, and circular economy).

  • Very strong project management skills - ability to balance priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders with care and clarity.

  • Strong business understanding and strategic mindset: Ability to see the big picture, but not afraid to roll up your sleeves to ensure brilliant execution.

  • Data-driven decision maker who utilizes data to identify process improvements and make objective, informed decisions.

  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced scaleup environment, bringing clarity and cohesion across diverse teams.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, collaboration and communication skills in English.

  • Big plus if you have experience with ESG audits!

  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the Amsterdam office on average 3 days a week. More is fine too!

  • Believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s purpose. You live our core values: outspoken, in it together, entrepreneurial, raise the bar and makes you smile.

Our benefits (the icing on the cake)

At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits we provide as you help us succeed. We’re dedicated to enabling all Tonys to grow and develop their careers and therefore we offer training programs, regular feedback cycles, coaching and a generous L&D budget. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits, including a luxurious vega-lunch, company bonus, minimum of 28 holidays, inspirational team updates, unforgettable events and unlimited chocolate. But we also know chocolate won’t cover the bills, so we’ve made sure your salary is just as rewarding, for this role that means an annual salary between €54-67.5k, including holiday pay.

Sounds like you?

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! If you're ready to take the chocolate industry to new heights with us, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your direct application, no agencies. We can't wait to hear from you!

At Tony's we are convinced that diversity of thought, background and perspectives will make us stronger (...just like the different flavors of our chocolate assortment). Our mission is founded on principles of equity and justice, and we are actively seeking candidates who bring new perspectives and life experiences, especially from underrepresented groups. We look forward to your application!
