What you will do  

We are looking for a new Product Development Specialist to join our team in Amsterdam! You will join as a maternity leave cover on a temporary fixed-term contract for 9 months, starting either in December 2024 or January 2025.

As one of the two Tony’s Product Development Specialists, your main goal is to develop new products for innovation and renovation projects. You lead the technical development process from briefing and creating samples in the kitchen, to first production and timely launch, while meeting Tony’s product and packaging principles and quality standards.

You will be an essential part of our global product team in Amsterdam and report directly to the Product Development Manager.

• Deliver products for innovation and renovation across various chocolate segments with different production techniques and manufacturing partners.
• Bring development from concept brief to execution, from formulation in our kitchen, up until a successful first production. You work closely with our operations and quality teams and networks of co-manufacturers and suppliers to ensure new products can be manufactured, while meeting foods safety and quality regulations.
• Ensure that projects are run smoothly and proactively suggest improvements. You conduct sensory evaluations for new and existing products to ensure quality and consistency, and to get director for further development.
• Set up, prepare, execute and evaluate production trials, together with our teams and co-manufacturers. You identify and actively manage risk in projects in close collaboration with external and internal project managers.
• Translate briefs from the marketing team into product and pack attributes, and you make sure to always add some Tony’s magic to be able to disrupt in the category.

• You have prior experience in product development in the food sector. You bring in a solid understanding of food science, chemistry, technology and/or engineering.
• You have experience managing complex projects successfully and simultaneously. You manage all resources effectively to drive projects timely and on-brief.
• You come up with new and different innovation ideas, introduce new ways to look at challenging briefs, and get energy from putting creative ideas into practice.
• You feel confident under pressure and when finding solutions to complex challenges. You maintain a positive attitude despite adversity.
• You are available for a 40-hour contract on an interim basis for 9 months, starting from December 2024 or January 2025.
• We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the Amsterdam office on average 3 days a week. More is fine!
