People Operations Coordinator

  • Hybrid

Job description

Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

What you will do
We are seeking a
People Operations Coordinator to keep our people processes running smoothly and ensure all Tony’s feel supported and cared for. This role is at the heart of our People & Culture team and is key to creating seamless employee experiences across the globe. You will oversee employment administration, payroll input, benefits and leave management, and act as the first point of contact for employees with questions. You will also play a key role in data accuracy, audits, reporting, and systems management. This role reports to the Head of Reward & People Operations and is based in our Amsterdam homebase.

All wrapped up, you're responsible for

  • Drive accurate people administration: draft contracts, manage onboarding/offboarding, and process employment changes.

  • Manage benefits administration: oversee registrations for leave, healthcare, pensions, transport, car/bike plans and ensure compliance.

  • Act as the first point of contact: answer global People Ops and payroll-related questions with care, clarity, and speed.

  • Master our HR systems: maintain and improve HRIS, payroll, and related systems; ensure GDPR compliance and data security.

  • Support audits & reporting: provide documentation during audits and deliver regular reporting (headcount, turnover, etc.).

  • Coordinate PO & invoice management: create POs, check invoices, and process changes.

  • Enhance operational excellence: document and optimize ways of working, create self-service tools, and flag compliance risks while proposing improvements.

  • Learn and grow: gain a broad view of HR foundations across different markets, while preparing for future career steps within People & Culture.

Job requirements

Our new flavor

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in People/HR administration, ideally in a scaling, international environment.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken).

  • Strong Excel skills and a sharp eye for data accuracy.

  • Analytical mindset: comfortable handling payroll input and collaborating with Finance (no deep payroll expertise required but eager to learn the foundations).

  • Strong time management and organizational skills - able to work with strict deadlines across multiple markets.

  • Action-oriented, proactive, and motivated to challenge inefficiencies and improve processes.

  • High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee data.

  • Excited about HR as a career path and eager to grow in a fast-paced, “in construction” HR environment.

  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the office 3 days a week. More is fine too!

  • And of course, you live our core values: in it together, entrepreneurial, outspoken, raise the bar, and make you smile.

Our benefits (the icing on the cake)

At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making a real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits we provide as you help us succeed. We’re dedicated to enabling all Tonys to grow and develop their careers and therefore we offer training programs, regular feedback cycles, and coaching. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits, including a luxurious vega-lunch, company bonus, minimum of 28 holidays, inspirational team updates, unforgettable events and unlimited chocolate. But we also know chocolate won’t cover the bills, so we’ve made sure your salary is just as rewarding. For this role that means a salary between €45k and €56k on a yearly basis, including holiday pay.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your HR career in an international impact company.

Sounds like you?

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! If you're ready to take the chocolate industry to new heights with us, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your direct application, no agencies. We can't wait to hear from you!

At Tony's we are convinced that diversity of thought, background and perspectives will make us stronger (...just like the different flavors of our chocolate assortment). Our mission is founded on principles of equity and justice, and we are actively seeking candidates who bring new perspectives and life experiences, especially from underrepresented groups. We look forward to your application!
