Packaging Development Specialist
- Hybrid
Job description
Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes an impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate.
What you will do
Now we're looking for a new Packaging Development Specialist to join our global product team in Amsterdam! In this role your main goals are to develop new packaging for innovation projects, optimize current packaging portfolio in renovation and operations driven projects, and to develop the global Tony's product portfolio. Tony’s products are the driving force behind commercial success, profitable growth, and impact, so you'll play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious goals!
You make sure we develop packaging that surprise and delight, driving our packaging sustainability goals, and lead the technical development process from briefing to kitchen, to first production and launch on time, on brief, and meeting Tony’s product and packaging principles and quality standards. You will work alongside with another, more senior packaging development specialist, and report to the Product Development Manager.
All wrapped up
You deliver directly yourself, or together with another packaging specialist in the team, packaging for innovation and renovation, across various chocolate segments. This includes working with different manufacturing partners, packaging types and capabilities.
You translate a brief from the Innovation & Renovation team into pack attributes, and you make sure to always add some Tony’s magic to be able to disrupt in the category.
You bring development from concept brief to execution, from initial development, up until a successful first production. You ensure the development projects run smoothly and actively suggest improvements.
You work closely with our internal Operations and Quality team and external networks of co-manufacturers, co-packers and suppliers, in packaging manufacturing.
You set up and execute packaging validation tests (such as consumer experience, transport tests, and barrier tests) with partners when needed. You also set up, prepare, execute, and evaluate production trials together with our teams and external parties.
You identify and actively manage risk in projects in close collaboration with project managers. You do this with the internal Tony’s team and together with our external partners.
Job requirements
Our ideal New Edition
You bring in a solid understanding of packaging technology and/or development. A demonstrated experience (1-3 years) in packaging development is essential for this role, ideally in the food industry.
You have an understanding of packaging materials technology and/or packaging development and validation to execute projects.
You marshal all resources (people, time, budget, material and support) to get things done. You plan for potential future fallbacks and orchestrate multiple activities to get to your goal.
You rebound easily from setbacks in challenging situations. As innovation is always something new, you feel confident under pressure and when the solution is not yet obvious. You maintain a positive attitude despite adversity.
You come up with new and different ways to look at a challenging brief, get energy from taking creative ideas and putting them into practice.
You are keen to work from our Amsterdam office on a weekly basis at least 3 times per week.
Raise the bar. You challenge yourself and Team Tony’s to increase our ambition and to accomplish our mission. Make mistakes along the way and learn from them.
You believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s mission. You live our core values: outspoken, wilful, entrepreneurial and makes you smile.
Our benefits (the icing on the cake)
At Tony's you will get the opportunity to be part of something extraordinary; first and foremost, by making a real impact in the world but also enjoying the nice benefits we provide as you help us succeed. We’re dedicated to enabling all Tonys to grow and develop their careers and therefore we offer training programs, regular feedback cycles, coaching and a generous L&D budget. We also offer a wide range of additional benefits, including a lunch, company bonus, minimum of 28 holidays, inspirational team updates, unforgettable quarterly events, and unlimited chocolate. But we also know chocolate won’t cover the bills, so we’ve made sure your salary is just as rewarding. For this role that means a salary between €47-59k on a yearly basis.
Sounds like you?
Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! If you're ready to take the chocolate industry to new heights with us, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your direct application, no agencies. We can't wait to hear from you!
Everybody is welcome to apply. From classics to limited editions, we know that different flavors make life more inspiring. And not just in our chocolate assortment.
