Head of Operations Tony’s Open Chain – Interim 6-month Role
- Hybrid
Job description
Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.
What you will do
We're on the lookout for an exceptional interim Head of Operations for Tony’s Open Chain, to join our Amsterdam based team. This is an approximately 6-month assignment, starting in mid-February 2025, to cover the maternity leave of our current Head of Operations for Tony’s Open Chain (TOC).
As Head of Operations for TOC, you ensure our Mission Allies can source (part of) their cocoa from the TOC supply chain. You are responsible for the supply chain specialism that manages the network of supply chain partners that serve our Mission Allies: these partners should have the capabilities and capacity to serve Mission Ally needs and TOC should ensure we have smooth and scalable processes for collaborating with these partners. Next to this, you oversee the Tech & Data functions for TOC, which serve the data collection, analysis and system automation needs of all the different TOC teams. As the team’s manager, your main responsibility is to lead a team of 3 direct and 2 indirect team members who are all experts in their role, ensuring their engagement and performance in their respective roles while ensuring continuity and good priority-setting of ongoing projects related to TOC supply chain.
All wrapped up
Lead a team of 3 direct and 2 indirect reports and ensure their engagement and success in their respective roles over the 6-month period by giving regular guidance and coaching.
Oversee successful delivery of key KPIs related to our core supply chain processes: bean delivery, bean traceability, premium collection and pay out, and environmental traceability.
Oversee accurate delivery of the year’s biggest and most important improvement projects, coaching the team in project management and picking up (parts of) projects yourself when needed. Some examples of the biggest focus projects are the re-design of our sourcing & exporter partners landscape, the onboarding of new cocoa processors, and the introduction of a new Farmer Data Collection app.
Build relationships: Foster strong connections with both internal and external stakeholders, including Mission Allies.
Oversee strong delivery of the team in supporting tech, data and insights requests from other teams, while developing long-term analysis and reporting solutions.
Job requirements
Previous experience in a leadership positions, preferably as an interim, with the ability to take over teams and their coaching quickly. Experience in supply chain roles, with familiarity with constant changes in priorities, the ability to solve challenges under time pressure while balancing short-term and long-term goals
Eagerness to work in a fast-paced scaleup environment
