Global Senior Brand Specialist

  • Hybrid

Job description

Why we are here
Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not a chocolate company that makes impact. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate too.

What you will do
We are looking for a
Global Senior Brand Specialist to steward and grow Tony’s Chocolonely and Tony's Open Chain brands globally – to show up consistently across markets for both short term commercial impact and long-term brand health. As the Global Senior Brand Specialist, you own brand stewardship - our visual identity, brand codes, messaging - and set the packaging strategy to guide design and go-to-market of current chocolate portfolio and innovation in close partnership with product, markets, and creative teams. You will lead a global “Big Bet” campaign end-to-end, setting the standard in creative briefing, steering concept and execution, and orchestrating cross-functional, cross-market stakeholders for impact at scale. You will be the champion of brand success: building the measurement narrative, yearly planning and evaluating campaigns, driving creative optimization, and data-driven decision making. The role balances global coherence with local relevance, safeguarding our brand equity, and delivering measurable gains in brand health and campaign effectiveness and ROI. You will be based in our Amsterdam office and report to our Head of Global Brand.

All wrapped up, you're responsible for

  • Brand Stewardship: Lead the definition and enforcement of Tony’s brand guidelines and visual identity globally, ensuring consistency in tone, design, messaging, and packaging; develop brand codes that reflect Tony’s unique DNA and guide creative and commercial decisions; own the Big Red Blueprint and oversee alignment of visual and brand identities for Tony’s Chocolonely and Tony’s Open Chain.

  • Brand Success: Lead Tony’s measurement and media effectiveness agenda by driving brand health tracking, campaign evaluation, and media ROI; act as the key contact for internal teams and external partners; integrate insights into business and communications planning; and lead consumer studies to strengthen brand strategy.

  • Global and Local Planning Strategy: Own Tony’s annual media planning cycle from challenge identification to agency briefing and execution; lead strategic media agency relationships, guide media choices across markets based on growth principles, champion a brand health and ROI-driven investment approach, and serve as the company’s point of contact for all planning and media-related matters.

  • Big Bet Ownership: Own the full delivery of Tony’s global Big Bet campaign from strategic and creative briefing to concept development, stakeholder alignment, rollout and optimisation — ensuring brand consistency, flawless execution across markets, and best-in-class evaluation that raises the bar for future campaigns.

Job requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in marketing, brand and media strategy world, ideally within the FMCG world.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering impactful marketing projects and campaigns.

  • Very strong project management skills - ability to balance priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders with care and clarity.

  • Solid understanding of both local and global marketing and commercial dynamics, preferably across both European and US markets.

  • Strong agency management skills and experience leading external partner relationships.

  • Global experience managing multiple media landscapes simultaneously.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills in English; ability to create engagement and influence across all levels.

  • Strong business understanding and strategic mindset - ability to see the big picture, but not afraid to roll up your sleeves to ensure brilliant execution.

  • Eagerness to work in a fast-paced scaleup environment, bringing clarity and cohesion across diverse teams.

  • Experience with challenger brand marketing or working in a scale-up environment.

  • You are a data-driven decision maker and storyteller, who utilizes data to identify process improvements, make objective, informed decisions and get stakeholders onboard.

  • Prior work experience in local market roles is highly valued, especially in key markets such as the US, the Netherlands, the UK and/or Germany.

  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in the Amsterdam office on average 3 days a week. More is fine too!

  • Believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s purpose. You live our core values: outspoken, in it together, entrepreneurial, raise the bar and makes you smile.
