We are on the hunt for our new Retail Sales intern to join our Benelux & Beyond team in Amsterdam!  The retail sales team focuses on working together with supermarkets in the Netherlands making sure they offer the best Tony's Chocolonely assortment. Their main mission is to maximize the amount of Tony's Chocolonely sold at the retailer because only together we make 100% slave free chocolate the norm.


You’ll join us in our mission to make 100% exploitation free chocolate the norm in the cocoa industry through our sales activities. By selling more chocolate, Tony’s can buy more cocoa beans and help farmers get out of poverty. Plus, when we’re commercially successful, we can inspire our competitors to join our mission and change their sourcing principles too.

You’ll have the freedom and opportunity to make a serious impact on our various sales activities. You’ll gain insights into all features within Sales and learn how we work with our customers to increase the sales of our Tony's chocolate bars, as well as how to work with our retailers and internal business partners, such as the marketing, e Commerce and sales team.


Here is what you will do: 

  • Help improve our Retail E-commerce customer journey by fixing the basics and then optimizing it with your own entrepreneurial ideas.

  • Support smooth launches when Tony’s introduces new products! Think of gathering internal information, creating Sales presentations to sell the idea to retailers, creating perfect online visibility and sending samples. 

  • Help analyze historical sales data and distil actionable insights for the team to use.

  • Support the team in making sure all our data and pack shots are timely and accurately in the GS1 and Brandbank database so our retail customers can use them.

But that’s not all! Based on the areas you’d like to develop in, you’ll work on one or more of these exciting tasks:

  • Learn to create sales presentations, promotional materials such as flyers and promotional folders.

  • Learn to analyze data and present actionable insights to the sales team.

  • Manage the Retail E-commerce project and give advice to KAM’s to increase our online sales across key retailers Albert Heijn, Jumbo and Plus.

  • Learn to manage and optimize a smooth innovation process for new products across our customers.

  • Make sure our customers have the correct up to date information about our products.

  • Learn to deal with different departments within our company, for example marketing, supply chain and finance.

Job requirements

  • You’re studying an HBO/university degree in a commercial or business direction and are looking to gain practical internship experience in a real work environment within a sales team. You are enrolled at the school during the entire internship period.
  • You are fluent in both English and Dutch.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a real bonus!
  • It's great if you have already some relevant experience in a customer-facing position, such as in Sales or Customer Service, but curiosity and the motivation to dive deeper into the topic are more important to us. It is important that you are enthusiastic to reach out to business consumers and eager to get in contact with new people.
  • In previous internships, side jobs or your university projects, you have proven to be able to work independently and precisely. When you see anything that can go better, you like to give and receive feedback about it and improve it instead of making it look all shiny.

Here are the hard facts:

  • Starting on September 2nd, you'll be part of our dynamic and passionate team until February 28th.
  • We are all about being more in person than apart; this means we offer flexibility but see each other in our Amsterdam office on average 3 days a week. More is fine!
  • You’ll be living in the Netherlands for the duration of the internship.
