Chocolate Machine Operator

Job description

We're looking for a Chocolate Machine Operator to join our Super Store in Amsterdam!  Your #1 goal is to be responsible for the production, the first-line maintenance of the machine (parts) and working within the QA/SHE standards. The result KPIs on which the operators are judged are the lead time from order to delivery for the bars, availability and First Time Good (FTG).

As an operator, you start the production process, keep the production line up-and-running and close the line. In addition, you operate all parts of the line and you can accurately and reliably follow the correct processes and procedures. All activities take place within the frameworks set for this purpose, such as quality standards (Hygiene code & Tony's product qualitysystem) and legal regulations. You report to the Unlimiteds Captain and Co-captain.  Do you see yourself in the above, you love chocolate and you have fun handling a machine? Then this is surely a dream job for you!

What you will do:

  • Handle the production of chocolate bars and personalized wrapping papers independently during your shift
  • Ensure hygiene and tidiness of your workplace at top level
  • Produce according to our Ultimate Bar standards
  • Make sure the start-up, the production process and the closing are a smooth process, where you keep working along the standard operating procedures
  • Monitor deviations, make improvements on the machine
  • If the Choco Machine is in a bad mood, you know how to make it smile again: You make yourself familiar with the easy fixes and have a healthy interest in the bigger issues
  • Stay calm at all times – visitors of the Tony’s Super Store can see you through a window
  • Wave and smile when people knock on the window :)
  • Engage with visitors of the store during quiet production times by explaining to them how the machine works or by telling your best joke

Job requirements

Now the hard facts:

  • The production opens at 11:00 in the morning and closes at 19:00 in the evening. It is open 7 days per week.
  • Available to work 32-40 hours a week(one shift is 8 hours long).
  • Flexible to work on the weekends.
  • This job requires some physical effort and most of the work will be done standing, so some level of physical fitness is necessary.

The ideal candidate:
  • You are based in the Netherlands and have a valid work permit.
  • Good mechanical knowledge/understanding of food production machines.
  • You’re comfortable in a dynamic, fast-changing environment and like to do things differently.
  • You speak English and/or Dutch fluently and live in or around Amsterdam with a good connection to the city center (Damrak).
  • Handling a machine in a food production environment is not new to you – you have been working as an operator before.
  • You stay calm under pressure and have a positive attitude. You’re open, communicative and reliable.
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to explain/discuss problems quickly and simply.
  • Set priorities. Although the customer is king, you need to put quality above quantity.
  • And last, but not least, you see yourself in Tony's core values (outspoken, wilful, entrepreneurial and makes you smile) and believe wholeheartedly in our mission to make chocolate 100% slave-free.

What we offer:

  • An enthusiastic team of great, driven colleagues with a lot of love for our mission and Tony’s Chocolonely.
  • The possibility to help build Tony’s Chocolonely and our mission. Only together can we change the chocolate industry!
  • Fully paid snacks/lunch or dinner when you’re working late.
  • Fun! Don’t get us wrong, we know how to work our socks off too, but do this with loads and loads of fun.
  • And of course, lotssss of chocolate. ;-)

Sounds like You?

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! If you're ready to take the chocolate industry to new heights with us, we'd love to hear from you! Please send your direct application, no agencies. We can't wait to hear from you!

Everybody is welcome to apply. From classics to limited editions, we know that different flavours make life more inspiring. And not just in our chocolate assortment. At Tony’s, we welcome everyone with equal enthusiasm – regardless of race, colour, age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, disability or veteran status.
