Job description

We're looking for a Category Manager to join our UK&I team based in Richmond, London. In this role, you will be the one responsible for the collaborative category development relationship with our external retail partners and internal stakeholders.

Your expertise in spotting trends, watchouts and growth opportunities will help us to stay ahead of the curve and increase our presence with new and existing customers. You’ll manage all our UK category data (including budgets) and turn it into killer insights, that will not only help our sales teams in developing Tony's brand in key customers, but also to continue to grow the category and help benefit the entire cocoa value chain. Win win!

You will be reporting directly to the Country Manager UK&I and have one Category Executive line report.

What you will do:

  • Manage all our UK data and insight sources, reporting systems and contracts, enabling us to make the right decisions. You will manage the budget for our UK insights.
  • Turn this data into actionable insights for all UK teams and to keep all key stakeholders informed of our relative performance in the market.
  • Your data and insights will see us close distribution gaps and move ahead of the competition.
  • Regularly update the team with recommendations to facilitate the growth in the UK choco-market. You’ll be spotting the trends before they happen!
  • Bring strong arguments across, whether it's internally, externally, in person or in writing. You’ll regularly present to senior stakeholders across the trade.
  • Monitor Tony's business performance to spot opportunities and risks and help work up plans to seize on them.
  • Help Tony's to shape and deliver the best NPD, pricing and promotional strategies, always keeping the business plan and goals in mind.
  • Work across the global team to help share insights and learnings, so we adapt and work towards a shared category vision.

Job requirements

  • You have experience in category management within the FMCG industry and have gained first-hand insights and experience of working with big grocery customers. Data (Nielsen/Kantar) agency is a bonus.
  • You have a proven track record of delivering results and can point to significant insight-led wins and projects helping drive value in your business.
  • You are a great communicator and are comfortable building and presenting data, making firm and insightful recommendations as you go.
  • Your experience working with a structured category management set-up enables you to derive actionable and impactful recommendations from your data analysis. You know how to build strong category-based selling stories and influence stakeholders across all levels.
  • You know how to build strong, long-lasting internal and external relationships. You deliver customer-centric solutions to exceed business goals that benefit both parties.
  • You make commercial decisions based on data and have solid analytical skills.
  • You are either experienced or eager to take your next step in coaching, managing and mentoring a line report.
  • You are keen to work either fully from our Richmond office or in a hybrid set-up (at least 3 days a week from the office).
  • You believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s mission. You live our core values: outspoken, wilful, entrepreneurial and makes you smile.
  • Raise the bar. You challenge yourself and Team Tony’s to increase our ambition and to accomplish our commitment to end exploitation in cocoa.
